Make the frame wide enough to allow your readers to find similarities between your experiences and theirs.

Details draw readers in so be specific. Being vague drives the readers away.
3. List three suggestions the writer makes in the Personal Essays and Crafts section that you will use as you write.

  • The hook should be a question, quote, strong statement, metaphor or description.
  • Use all of your five senses and describe them.
  • Think of your essay as a camera lens, describe every detail.

Bullying is a big deal and is extremely common. 1 in every 4 U.S. students claim to have been bullied. There are many different types of bullying but they all have the same effect. Even something as small as laughing at someone or starting a rumor is pulled into that category. This mainly happens at school, especially throughout middle school.
