1. What manipulations to the camera will you need to make to create an HDR image?
If you have a Auto Exposure Bracketing function, you don't have to make any changes to your camera. 
2. What equipment will we use to take this type of image?
You need a tripod, and a HDR photo-blending software to take the picture and combine them together at the end for an HDR effect.
3. What is the reason someone might take an HDR image?
Someone might take an HDR image to enhance the beauty the picture captures. Sometimes the camera exposures and shadows aren't captured through the lens so you can enhance it by using HDR.
4. What can we expect to happen with the images once we merge them together, what will we see that we might not have seen with just one photo?
We will be able to see the difference in the colors in the sky and shadows and the brightness of some pictures will be brighter.
