1. Apps to use to research the area is Google, weather, google maps, tourist images.
2. An app for the best angles is Photographer's Ephemeris.
3. Shooting with a zoom or telephoto lens makes the foreground and background appear to be very close together.
4. Instead of HDR you can use ND grad filter for sky and ground pictures.
5. When the weather is rough, bring a strong, waterproof plastic bag to cover camera, cleaning cloths for lens glass and filters, microfiber towel to dry camera and lens.
6. Pre scouting lets you assess all of the best angles and locations for the perfect picture.
7. The subject is more important because the composition can be changed due to the subject.
8. A striking image comes from not including too much in your shot.
9. You use black and white when there is a heavy, cloudy sky and when there are fluffy clouds against a bright blue sky.
10. Revisiting an area gives you less time researching the area and you can give a different look to this old place.
